NABIRE – Papuapatrolie-news.com, Marsel Asyerem has been officially appointed as the Chairman of the Nabire District AIDS Prevention Commission (KPA) based on the Decree (SK) No. 100.3.3.2.1.7 of 2025 issued by the Regent of Nabire. In response to his appointment, Marsel expressed his gratitude to the Regent for entrusting him with this significant responsibility.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Regent of Nabire for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as Chairman of KPA Nabire. This is not just an honor, but a great responsibility as it concerns a humanitarian mission,” Marsel stated when interviewed by the media at his office in the DPRK Nabire building.
As an initial step, Marsel plans to analyze the latest data on HIV/AIDS cases in Nabire. According to the available data, there are approximately 10,000 recorded cases that will be further examined to develop more effective prevention strategies.
“We will thoroughly analyze this data and present it to the public in a quantitative format. Sensitive data such as names, addresses, and ID numbers will not be disclosed. Instead, we will publish the overall figures, including the total number of HIV/AIDS transmissions in Nabire.
We will also analyze the data based on gender and age groups, identifying the percentage of male and female cases and the most at-risk age groups for transmitting or contracting HIV/AIDS.
From this analysis, we can determine the transmission patterns and formulate appropriate programs,” he explained.
Furthermore, Marsel emphasized that KPA Nabire’s programs will focus on data-driven education and prevention initiatives.
“We want to ensure that KPA’s future programs effectively target the right groups. With accurate mapping, we can implement the best strategies to reduce HIV/AIDS transmission rates.
Our hope is that, in line with the national target, Indonesia will achieve ‘Three Zero AIDS’ by 2030, and Nabire will contribute to this achievement,” he added.
Marsel also expressed his appreciation for the previous KPA Chairman, Paulah S. Pakage, for her dedication and hard work in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS among the community over the past year.
“I invite the former KPA Chairman, the government, religious institutions, local NGOs, and all community elements to actively participate in HIV/AIDS prevention efforts. This synergy is crucial in realizing Nabire’s contribution to the Three Zero AIDS 2030 goal,” he concluded. (Red)
